What Goes Into an Indian Payslip
Earnings and deductions are listed separately, never netted against each other mid-table — an employee should be able to see exactly what they earned before anything came out, not just the final number. Basic Salary is the anchor figure most other components key off; HRA, conveyance, and special allowances sit on top of it. On the deduction side, Provident Fund and professional tax are the two that show up on nearly every slip, with TDS added once an employee crosses the taxable income threshold for the year.
